Zombies were creatures that were often brought back from the dead or, in some cases, afflicted by a medical condition.

Due to their rotten bodies, they were much slower than their living counterparts. Also, because their brains were left to rot, their intelligence was also much lower and slower than that of the living. However, for all their flaws, they had several advantages over the living: they needed far less food than the living and they lived a lot longer. (RIS Bouteina various)

How corpses became zombies varied: Kressgonians could become zombies by defects in Green Warriors. However, they could be cured. (Star Trek: Unity (fan film series): "Zombies on Kressgon")

Several races, including Barkonians, Klingons and Rakellians, were zombified upon contracting a bacteria-caused disease called the Mijanou Syndrome. When the cure was improperly administered, the cure could kill rather than the sickness it was supposed to cure from. (RIS Bouteina: "Eidolon")

An U'lanna virus-based disease made zombies out of Klingons. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "A Knight without Armor")

A raid against Du'Qot was launched in order to zombify the population of that planet, using Ku'Rist-class attack fighters armed with specially outfitted micro-torpedoes. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "Rode the 300")

Jem'Hadar could be zombified through ketracel-white contamination. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "Ancient Horrors")
