Alexandra Elena "Zandra" Taitt was a human female active as a Starfleet science officer from 2369 until her death in 2410. (TNG: "Descent, Part II"; ST video game: Starship Creator; Bait and Switch: Beat the Drums of War)

The character is canonically referred to as "Taitt" in "Descent, Part II", with the first name Zandra being given in Starship Creator. Beat the Drums of War establishes her full name.

24th centuryEdit

Taitt was born on Tau Ceti IV in 2348 and graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2369, writing her senior year thesis on solar dynamics. This thesis earned her a prestigious posting to Science division aboard the USS Enterprise. (ST video game: Starship Creator; TNG: "Descent, Part II")

Six weeks into her commission, during an encounter with a faction of non-Collective Borg led by Lore, Ensign Taitt manned the tactical station under the command of Commander Doctor Beverly Crusher. She hesitantly held her post, and under orders, established a frequency shift firing pattern on a Borg starship.

When Taitt was relieved of her position at tactical by Lieutenant Albert Barnaby, Crusher asked that she stay on the bridge at the science station.

When Crusher took the Enterprise, protected by metaphasic shielding, into a local star, it was Taitt's observations and expertise in Solar Dynamics that allowed her to use the ship's phasers to trigger a solar flare, destroying the Borg. Crusher christened the move the "Taitt Maneuver". (TNG: "Descent, Part II")

25th centuryEdit

By 2410 Taitt held the rank of rear admiral and had earned almost as many awards for courage under fire as for scientific achievements. At the outset of the Iconian invasion, Taitt used sensor data from the USS Bajor to develop a plan to use a starship's main deflector to divert an Iconian gateway into a black hole, selecting the USS Caelian as it was due to be scrapped due to battle damage. Unfortunately the Heralds arrived sooner than expected, preventing Taitt or her skeleton crew from bailing out in time to survive.

Following the battle, Fleet Admiral William T. Riker nominated her posthumously for the Federation Medal of Honor. (Bait and Switch: Beat the Drums of War)
