Wing commander (abbreviated as Wg Cdr, WGCDR or WCDR) was a commissioned rank and/or title used by various organizations.

"Wing Commander" was a title for an officer in command of a fighter wing. It was not a rank. (Star Trek: Banshee Squadron)
Star Trek: RemingtonEdit
The rank of wing commander was used by the Federation Starfighter Corps in the 24th century. It was equivalent to the naval rank of captain and the infantry rank of colonel. Officers who served as Commander Air Group usually held the rank of wing commander.
