Named for New Zealand's Bay of Plenty region.

Named for New Zealand region and town Gisborne.

USS Greymouth (NCC-5624)[]

The USS Greymouth (NCC-5624) was an Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Named for the New Zealand town, Greymouth.

USS Hawkes Bay (NCC-5621)[]

The USS Hawkes Bay (NCC-5621) was a Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

In 2372, the Hawkes Bay was destroyed defending Canaileus Prime against imminent Myhr'an attack. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Catalyst, Part Two")

In 2373, Starfleet was putting the final touches on her replacement, the Aotearoa-class USS Hawkes Bay.

USS Huntly (NCC-5611)[]

The USS Huntly (NCC-5611) was a Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

In 2368, the Huntly discovered the then-missing Helena Bourget and her ship while exploring the Typhon Expanse, and accompanied her ship to Starbase Expanse 3 to ensure she arrived safe and sound. She transmitted a message from the Huntly to her mother aboard the USS Coral Sea, saying she never wanted to see her again. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Breaking Benjamin")

Named for the New Zealand town Huntly.

USS Invercargill (NCC-5627)[]

The USS Invercargill (NCC-5627) was a Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Named for the New Zealand town of Invercargill.

USS Napier (NCC-5618)[]

The USS Napier (NCC-5618) was a Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Named for New Zealand's famous art deco city, Napier.

USS New Plymouth (NCC-5614)[]

The USS New Plymouth (NCC-5614) was a Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Named for New Zealand town New Plymouth.

USS Palmerston North (NCC-5619)[]

The USS Palmerston North (NCC-5619) was a Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Sometime between 2369 and 2371, Ensign Tawana Killan was stationed aboard the Palmerston North as a flight controller. Her quick actions and thinking saved 75% of the crew from death and the ship from certain destruction when she successfully piloted the ship to outrun a Cardassian ATR-4107 missile. This allowed the Palmerston North team to successfully destroy the missile.

From Tawana Killan's Starfleet reference on her file, we assume Captain Holmes was the commanding officer of the Palmerston North during her tour of duty.

USS Raglan (NCC-5661)[]

The USS Raglan (NCC-5661) was a Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Named for New Zealand town Raglan.

USS Westport (NCC-5632)[]

The USS Westport (NCC-5632) was a Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Named for New Zealand town Westport.

USS Whakahaere (NCC-5122)[]

The USS Whakahaere (NCC-5122) was a Whakahaere-class starship, first of her class, in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Whakahaere in this context means "conduct".

USS William Hamilton (NCC-5707)[]

The USS William Hamilton (NCC-5707) was an Whakahaere-class starship in service during the 23rd and 24th centuries.

In 2372, the William Hamilton was destroyed near Myhr'an space. Daniel Radke, Elizabeth Singh, Tawana Killan and another were sent to retrieve the William Hamilton's flight recorder. They were successful in retrieving it. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Catalyst, Part One")

Named after New Zealander Sir William Hamilton, inventor of the modern jetboat.
