The Vincennes class command cruisers were a type of United Federation of Planets starship on active duty in Starfleet during at least the late 23rd and early 24th centuries. (Task Force Games: Star Fleet Battles: The X-Ships; Task Force Games: UFP: The Federation Sourcebook for Prime Directive)
The names and registries of some of these vessels are identical to those of Australia-class battlecruisers seen in earlier editions of Star Fleet Battles. It is uncertain if the class name change is due to technological upgrades or an alternate continuity.

In the Star Fleet Battles timeline, the Gettysburg-class heavy command cruiser USS Vincennes was converted to use new X-technology to improve its combat capabilities.

The new Vincennes class prototype was only partly successful but it led to the production or upgrade of ten more vessels of this class until 2304, after which production increased.

These ships succeeded Constitution-class heavy cruisers as the core of battle groups during the final days of the General War and during the Andromedan War.

The standard crew complement of a Vincennes was 405 (including a Prime Team) plus 96 surface action specialists.

Naming schemaEdit

Ships of the Vincennes class were named after battles in various revolutions in Earth history.
