The Venture class was a type of Federation auxiliary craft in operation during the late 24th century.
The vessel could be piloted by a single person who sat in a forward mounted cockpit separated from the rest of the vessel. It was equipped with phasers and micro-torpedo launchers. The vessel is accessible through its docking hatch on the ventral hull. (Star Trek: Insurrection)
The USS Swiftfire-A carried one of these vessels. It was designated SC-193 before later been named Lucky. (Star Trek: Swiftfire: "Moral Actions", "The Only Thing Necessary")
The USS Talon and USS Sparrowhawk were other vessels of this class. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 1: The Ships of Starfleet)
[edit] Background information
- Originally appearing in Star Trek: Insurrection this vessel was not named nor given a class. In the Star Trek: Armada series of games it appeared as the Venture-class scout vessel. It was also referred to as the Talon-class by Last Unicorn Games in several of their sourcebooks.
- The specifications are from the Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 1: The Ships of Starfleet.
