USS Yorktown (NCC-42944) was an Excelsior-class heavy cruiser in Starfleet service during the early and mid 24th century. The Yorktown saw heavy action during the Federation-Cardassian War. From the late 2350s onward, she was commanded by Captain Walter Stone. Lieutenant Commander David Rice served as the ship's Chief Engineer. In 2365, Lieutenant James Farrell transferred aboard to serve as Tactical Officer. In 2367, the Yorktown was one of thirty-nine Federation starships to be destroyed by the Borg at the Battle of Wolf 359. (Star Trek: The Nomad Frontier: "Baptism of Fire")
