Its tactical capabilities were not much better than the average Galaxy-class ship, although its medical facilities were quite advanced.

After hearing of Captain Jean-Luc Picard's trip into the future, in 2370, and the description of a future Enterprise-D from an alternate 2395, Admiral Theseus commissioned a similar ship-type as the Xena. Unfortunately, increased warp capability was never achieved as hoped. ("The Tilonian System")
