The Truman was named after the 33rd President of the United States of America, Harry S Truman.
When they were captains, both Admiral John Hayes and Admiral Harold Anton served aboard the Truman as the ship's commanding officer.
In the late 2370s and early 2380s, Captain Karen McFarline was placed in command of the Truman.
