The USS Repulse (NCC-2544) was an Excelsior-class heavy cruiser in Starfleet service for nearly a hundred years -- from the late 23rd century to the last quarter of the 24th century.

23rd century[]

Repulse was one of the first of its class commissioned following the Kelvan War of 2285. Under the command of Captain Arex in 2291, Repulse charted magnetic and gravitic field densities in the Beta Quadrant. (Orion Press: "A Form of Redemption")

In 2287, the Repulse was engaged by an vessel belonging to an aggressive and unknown species. The Repulse was able to defeat the other vessel. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 4: Starships of the Original Series Era)

In December, 2294, Repulse was one of many Federation vessels battling Tholians in the Alpha Tucanae system. Following the battle, the ship went to Earth for repairs. (Orion Press: Chekov's Enterprise)

24th century[]

Captain Jenna Steele commanded Repulse in the early 24th century before assignment to the Advanced Starship Design Bureau and the Ambassador-class Starship Development Project. (Dockyard Review)

In mid-2358, Lieutenant (jg) Richard D. James arrived on board with new commanding officer Captain Taggert. James served aboard Repulse until 2362. (Star Trek: The Quarterdeck Breed: "The Sacrifice of Agamemnon")

Dr. Katherine Pulaski served as a medical officer aboard Repulse before transferring to USS Enterprise-D in 2365 aboard the shuttlecraft D'Alison. (TNG: "The Child")

Repulse had no record of Pulaski using a transporter for over a year. (TNG: "Unnatural Selection")

In 2367, Repulse continued with its exploration of Sector 22036. (TNG: "Brothers") By this time, Ariel Taggart had succeeded her father as captain. (TNG novel: Vendetta)

Repulse reported many officers missing, wounded or killed as part of its participation with the Ninth Fleet during the Dominion War in 2375. (DS9: "In the Pale Moonlight")

Kila Vet, a Trill, was Repulse's commanding officer in 2376. (TNG anthology Gateways - What Lay Beyond novella: The Other Side)

In 2382, the Repulse, part of the Starfleet Eighth Fleet, participated in the Battle of Minark and was destroyed when it rammed the firing chamber of the Mass Driver. (Star Trek: Pioneer: "Torment and Woe")
