The USS Intrepid (NCC-74600) was a Federation starship in the late 24th century, and prototype for the Intrepid-class. In the early 2370s, the vessel served as a testbed for many new technologies.

The Intrepid was launched from Earth Station McKinley on 04 November 2370 (stardate 47845.2), under the command of Captain Terrance Riley. She was assigned to Demilitarized Zone patrol in early 2371. (Star Trek: Pendragon; TNG novel: Crossover)

Lieutenant Commander Ben Bartholomew served as operations officer on the Intrepid from July 2370 to October 2371.

In the summer of 2371, the Intrepid responded to a distress call from Salva Prime, and found the entire colony slaughtered by the Cardassians.

The Intrepid stopped at Starbase 47 in October of that year. (PDN: "The Good Fight")

During the Federation Civil War, Jason Bartholomew served as a junior engineer on the Intrepid from 2372 to 2373. (PDN: "L'Morte d'Maquis")

The Intrepid was assigned to patrol along the Romulan Neutral Zone in 2375.

Captain Walter Emick was the Intrepid's commanding officer in 2376.

In 2379, the Intrepid was part of Battle Group Omega, deployed in sector 1045 to counter the Reman threat. (Star Trek: Nemesis)
