The USS Fury (NCC-64952) was a Federation Akira-class starship that served in the 24th century. The Fury was commanded by Captain Alexander Whiting from 2367 until its destruction in 2373. (Star Trek: Swiftfire)
In 2373, Whiting with the support of his first officer, Commander Todd Marshal and the rest of the ship's senior staff decided to go rogue and attack the Klingon Empire. This was due to the death of Whiting's family in the Klingon attack on Belis IV during the Second Federation-Klingon War six months earlier. They devised a cover story for the rest of the crew that disguised the true nature of their attacks on the Klingons.
Their first target was the small Klingon colony in the Cursa system, which they razed to the ground. Using a Klingon intelligence relay station in the Cursa system to avoid the hunting Klingon and Starfleet forces the ship attacked a number of other Klingon starships and bases to present a fake trail. The ship's intended target was the planet, Nug'ka in the Nug'ka system, the home of General G'tor the commander of the Klingon forces that had attacked Belis IV.
The Fury was confronted by the USS Swiftfire-A in the Cursa system. Whiting attempted to convince the Swiftfire's captain, an old friend to join him in his mission. The Swiftfire was able to use the communications transmission to track the Fury to its hiding place in the system's asteroid belt and moved in to engage the ship. The Fury managed to escape by breaking up several large asteroids in the Swiftfire's path, slowing it down. Once at warp the Fury dispersed its trail making it close to impossible for the Swiftfire to pursue.
When the Fury arrived at Nug'ka it was confronted by a few smaller warships as it was all the Klingons could muster. The Swiftfire managed to arrive just after the Fury but was disabled by an engine overload after pushing its engines too hard to catch up with the Fury. The Fury engaged the Klingon ships and managed to destroy a Kel'var-class and a Bird-of-Prey as it moved into position to bombard Nug'ka.
In a final attempt to stop the Fury the captain of the Swiftfire used the Fury's prefix code to disable the ship. The Swiftfire tried to beam the crew into custody but were blocked by the Klingons who disrupted the beaming process. The Klingons had decided that for the Fury's crimes the crew were to be executed through the destruction of their ship.
With the Fury disabled and under heavy attack Whiting ordered the ship abandoned. All the crew with the exception of Whiting abandoned the ship in its escape pods. Several of these pods were destroyed by a Bird-of-Prey before it too was destroyed by a luck shot from the Fury.
In a final act of violence against the Klingon he destroyed the Fury, which in turn destroyed a Klingon K't'inga-class cruiser and crippled another. The surviving crew were recovered by the Swiftfire before been transferred to several other Starfleet vessels for the journey back to Federation territory. ("Vengeance")
