USS Daedalus (NCC-74310-A)

The USS Daedalus (NCC-74310-A) was a Luna-class explorer in service to the Federation Starfleet in the late 24th century.

Construction of the Daedalus, formerly named USS Jerrado, began at the New Okana Shipyards on Bajor in late 2377. Work was completed on the Jerrado by the end of 2379 and shortly after she began undergoing acceptance trials.

Following the end of the initial shakedown cruises in early 2380, Starfleet Command renamed the ship as Daedalus in honor of the USS Daedalus which was lost in the Scorpius Reach the previous year. The bulk of the Daedalus's crew was also reassigned to the new Daedalus, but with newly-promoted Captain Selok assuming command.

Following her launch and commissioning in September 2380, the Daedalus was assigned to the Scorpius Reach and assumed many of the roles which the previous Daedalus performed, but was geared more to scientific research instead of defensive and offensive duties.
