USS Churchill was a Federation Starfleet science vessel, a pre-refit Oberth-class, on active duty in the mid-23rd century.
Montgomery Scott was assigned to the Churchill, as a junior engineer, in 2249. Other officers included Scott's best friend Andrew Corrigan, a biomedical engineer; Vanguard, the chief science officer; Drysdrn, another science officer, who resembled a centaur from Earth mythology, Ensign Lee, a botanist, Kipley, the chief engineer, M'rill and Lrr'ann, two Caitian science officers; and Nickel, a security officer. The Churchill's commanding officer was Captain Huntington. ("Positive Thinking")
In 2249, a Churchill landing party was abducted by Orion pirates.
