The Ballarat was named after Australian navy ships named HMAS Ballarat, commissioned in the 20th and 21st centuries. These ships were in turn named after the town Ballarat, in Victoria in Australia, location of the 19th century Eureka Uprising.

ServiceEdit

In 2265 the Ballarat was escorting a convoy of Shinjuku-class cruisers. Christopher Pike was assigned to the Ballarat. (TOSS # 20: "Transporter Room")
