Ensign Taurik was a Vulcan Starfleet engineer serving aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2370. He shared quarters with Sam Lavelle, and was also friends with Alyssa Ogawa, Sito Jaxa, and Ben, a waiter in Ten Forward. (TNG: "Lower Decks")

It is commonly assumed, as asserted by writer-producer Jeri Taylor, that Taurik is the twin brother of Ensign Vorik, who served aboard the USS Voyager. Both characters were played by Alexander Enberg, who is also Taylor's son.

Non-canon

Beginning in 2378, Taurik was assistant chief engineer of the Enterprise-E. (TNG novel: A Time for War, A Time for Peace)

Star Trek: New Order

By 2380 Taurik had been promoted to Lieutenant Commander. When the USS Beliskner was launched, early that year, he was assigned as its new chief engineer, replacing the crew's previous engineer A'Cillia who was presumed killed shortly before the destruction of the USS Lapon, which most of the ship's officer's had previously served on.

Later the same year, Taurik proved himself when he assisted in the rescue of both Lieutenant Commander Chavin and Captain Hunt when the fighter they were in was sabotaged and crashed on take off, causing a massive fire. He later would prove useful in rescuing members of the crew trapped on a malfunctioning holodeck.

Bait and Switch

In 2409 Taurik held the rank of rear admiral and was the commandant of 40 Eridani A Starfleet Construction Yards. He supervised the construction of the USS Bajor and found Captain Kanril Eleya's insistence that the ship be fully armed before she leave port, and her assertion that saying things were unlikely to happen made them more likely, to be illogical. He was later chagrined to find out that she had also bribed his fueling manager for a full tank, enabling her to take the Bajor to rescue the SS Azura from Orion Syndicate raiders during the shakedown cruise. (Bait and Switch: "Shakedown Shenanigans")
