how come his sidebar uses green insignia? he is security and clearly wearing gray uniform patches in the picture. Chekov was also tactical/security and also wore gray uniform patches in all his movie appearances. -- Captain M.K.B. 07:41, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- According to Fletcher's Notes - security is green. And actually he is wearing green - it's just very faded. --Sneg 12:40, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- p.s. A good source on uniforms and stuff is Spike's Star Trek Page
- In the TWOK ranks, security and tactical are separate. Security is green as its own separate division. Tactical uses a different color and Chekov's primary duties were tactical officer. Thus, he wore gray, although I think that's not right either, because gray was sciences/navigation. --Kevin W. 17:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- yeah, i've did some graphics for Spike about 6 years ago. i'm just questioning how Fletcher's notes got used in the matter ... did any dark green shirts get used onscreen -- if so , i am unaware, and like i said, i've worked with Spike on some of this -- Captain M.K.B.
- The security guards that get beaten up in STIII wore dark green. --Kevin W. 19:42, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- That sounds right - if I remember correctly (will watch the DVD later tonight) it was a very dark green almost black. Not my first choice the way they set up the division colors (let alone how they broke things down to begin with). --Sneg 21:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

- To clarify on the use of gray, it truly was science and navigation, but it was also righfully worn by tactical, Kevin. officers in the torpedo bay and at the weapons station wore gray insignia in ST 2.
- Also, i'm looking at Star Trek 3 and the "beaten up" security guards are wearing red bands on their sleeves with gray slashes -- no dark green there. The security guards with dark bands on their arms were the ones that were investigating Spock's quarters, they didn't get beaten up. i'll look into what their insignia looked like
- one confusion on this "dark green" stuff -- duty uniforms for junior crew have black collars, even though if you look at their armbands or epaulets they have an actual division color. -- Captain M.K.B. 17:14, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
