Star Trek Expanded Universe

I started with the Charter published in the late-1970s Starfleet Technical Manual, by “Franz Joseph Designs.” I understand that this document is based on the United Nations Charter. However, I wanted to include, and to reconcile, the minutiae from various sources, such as the articles entitled "Articles of the Federation" from Memory Beta, and "The Constitution of the United Federation of Planets" from Memory Alpha. Examples of the minutiae I attempted to reconcile include the "Guarantees" of basic rights; "Article 14/Section 31" (which is supposed to justify the existence of the infamous organization by the same name); corrections to the names of the founding States of the UFP, as well as the place of and date of founding; articles and amendments referred to in various canon episodes, etc.

Other inspirations for this edit came from the European Convention on Human Rights (e.g., the wording of the "Guarantees"), the sections from the U.S. Constitution relevant to the Legislature (which allowed me to achieve the magic "31 Sections" of "Article 14"), and Admiral Pike's reference to Starfleet as a "humanitarian armada" in Star Trek 11 (although I obviously left out the word "humanitarian").

Although the language of “Franz Joseph's” Charter was remarkably inclusive, there were a few exceptions, which I edited. Also, since non-sexually-binary species have been encountered throughout the Star Trek series, I consistently used the term "sexual differentiation status" in substitution for "sex," in those sections when non-discrimination was addressed. I also used word substitutions when the original documents referred to expenditures, currency, budgets, and the like, to reflect the exclusive use of "Federation credits" as a medium of exchange within the UFP, and trade/barter-in-kind with entities outside the Federation. I take it that "gold-pressed latinum" is used on too-rare occasions to be reflected in the Charter. I welcome any feedback, suggested corrections/clarifications, and the like. LLAP, Stuart Young

I think the charter should have citations on where each differing part comes from (and the citations linked to sourced main articles), plus there should be a historical section preceding it describing where it's appeared in fan fiction. If there's anything that's just made up and not sourced, it should be removed. Needs an intro paragraph in the style of the wiki as well. The layout should also make use of the wiki heading style. Any other comments welcome. --Hawku (talk) 00:32, January 19, 2017 (UTC)

Delete?[]

I'm wondering if this should be deleted since no citations and no significant edits have been made since 2017. Also, this is an orphaned article and doesn't link anywhere.--Trip 03:51, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
