Svenquist O'Shea

Svenquist O'Shea was a 23rd century Human and commanding officer of the USS Starhaven in the fan fiction series Star Trek: The Animated Voyages.

"A homecoming - that's the best way to describe setting foot on this new ship. Sure, three days ago was the first time I'd actually been aboard, but there's just something special about the Constitution-class starships that can make one feel right at home" (Star Trek: The Animated Voyages Issue 1).

Connection to TAS

First seen in the television episode, The Pirates of Orion, O'Shea took command of the USS Starhaven soon after, describing his arrival on the new ship as a homecoming. Though the character had only minutes of screen time in the televised episode, his lead role in The Animated Voyages was expanded to offer more depth to a previously minor character in canon.

Early Life on New Harvest

O'Shea had spent time in the New Harvest colony as a child. During the mission to investigate the radio silence of the colony, he recalled his father telling him stories of "a hidden city in the stars," a recollection of tales passed down through the generations (Star Trek: The Animated Voyages Issue 2).

Aboard the Starhaven

Throughout the initial story arc of The Animated Voyages, O'Shea proved himself to be a competent commander demonstrating the ideals of the best of Humanity. He was responsible, along with Commander Thelin and Doctor Wyatt, for making first contact with the Myriad during the mission to New Harvest (Star Trek: The Animated Voyages Issue 2). Svenquist also was instrumental in communicating with the anathema creature held captive by an opposing force (Star Trek: The Animated Voyages Issue 3).
