Subytt society put a great emphasis on the various forms of intellect and greatly prized computer science, as its computer technology developed, so much so that they nickname the most intelligent people of any species "redshirt computers", if only in a poetic fashion. Mizarh was a Subytt and, like most Subytts, he was fond of winter sports, like synchronized skating and hockey, presumably due to the cold nature of the Subytt homeworld. (RIS Bouteina: "Jockship")

The Subytts tended to play hockey much less violently than Lyrans did and they would rather play gracefully, with as little violence as possible. However, some players' passion for the game could sometimes lead to violence. (RIS Bouteina: "A Hockey Game Broke Out", "Ultimate Wager")
