A stellar cartography holotank
The stellar cartography department was an area aboard a Federation starship which was dedicated to the science and the practice of charting space.
In the 24th century, many Federation vessels had a stellar cartography department including the Galaxy-class and Akira-class. (Star Trek Generations)
