Sovetsk Direction Senior High was a high school in Sovetsk, Russia. It was known to be a magnet high school for athletics, drawing some of the best student-athletes in southwest Russia, and often performing well at Europe-wide high school tournaments. Its varsity teams were known as the Kants. The school colors were red and blue, giving rise to the colloquial nickname Большая Красная Машина (The Big Red Machine) in football circles.

Rivalry with the Institut de MarquainEdit

In the late 24th century and early 25th century, Sovetsk Direction Senior High had an especially virulent rivalry with the Institut de Marquain. It was especially pronounced by the 2400s when they met each other in at least three high-profile occasions. The three most notorious occasions were in American football and basketball, in chronological order, two of which were at European championship finals in their respective sports. American footballEdit

This European high school championship game held in St. Petersburg, at Zhukovsky Stadium, ultimately lost 26-20, marked the moment of glory for several players on both sides. The best female Kant, Yang Poitras, played long snapper and received some university offers alongside some of her male teammates. (Star Trek: False Vacuum: "Dear Sixteen-Year-Old Me")

Women's basketballEdit

The Kants won the gold medal game of the EuroBasket Women High School in 2408 over the Institut de Marquain, the latter being captained by Dunames Lopez. The Porcelaine went on to lose the gold medal game again the following year. (Star Trek: False Vacuum: "Dear Sixteen-Year-Old Me")
