A shipyard is a facility in which starships are built and maintained. Shipyards often have drydocks.

Shipyards are an important part of any spacefaring civilisation due to their part in building and maintaining fleets. This has made them high priority targets in any conflicts between spacefaring civilisations. For this reason they are often located in key systems and are heavily defended.
