Self-Examination is the debut episode of Star Trek: Omega Force Gaiden, a sub-series of author William Raymer's Star Trek: Omega Force fan-fiction series that examines stories that take place in Alternate realities or before the events of the main series.
It takes place in the three-month period between the motion pictures Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and establishes a major plot point that will be further explored in the 2-part Magical Showtime episode of the main series.
