Sector 432 was a sector within Federation territory that bordered the Cardassian Union. (Star Trek: Swiftfire)

A relatively unimportant sector that only came to prominence around the time of the Federation-Cardassian War when Starfleet built a starbase within one of the systems of the sector.

With the Klingon invasion of the Cardassian Union in 2372 and the subsequent Second Federation-Klingon War the Fifth fleet was stationed within the sector. Starfleet would then construct a large repair and maintenance facility in the same system as the older starbase, which also received a defensive weapons upgrade.

When the Dominion War began in late 2373, the Fifth fleet was still stationed within the sector and was responsible for its defence. A week after the war began the Jem'Hadar attacked the Fifth Fleet's position in the sector. The Fifth Fleet suffered constant attacks from Dominion forces for over a day before it retreated from the sector due to the imminent arrival of a Dominion division. In the retreat the repair facility and the starbase were booby trapped as a surprise for the incoming forces. ("The Front")

Nearly three months later Starfleet would discover that the Dominion had managed to deactivate the boobytraps on the repair yards and had rebuilt them. Sector 432 then became a major logistical link between the Cardassain Union and Dominion fleet's advance. The Fifth fleet along with the Klingon Ninth Battlegroup were tasked with destroying the repair facility.

During the battle that would become known as the Raid on Sector 432 the joint fleet managed to deal out significant losses to the Dominion. Most of the fleet that had been stationed within the sector was destroyed and the repair facility was also destroyed. With these objectives completed and significant Dominion reinforcements on their way the fleet retreated back to Federation space and the sector remained in Dominion hands. ("Pressure Points")
