Saturn (Sol VI) is the sixth planet in the Sol system. It is a Class J gas giant, renowned for its expansive ring system, and the second largest planet in the Sol system.

History[]

During the first quarter of the 21st century, the Lewis and Clark, commanded by Captain Shaun Geoffrey Christopher, was the first Earth ship to reach Saturn. (TOS: "Tomorrow is Yesterday"; Spaceflight Chronology; Star Trek: The Original Series novel: The Rings of Time)

Only Christopher's name is mentioned in the episode. The name of the vessel, Lewis and Clark, was first used in the Spaceflight Chronology. The particulars of the voyage vary in different continuities, including the name of the vessel and the makeup of the crew.

In 2380, a Gordarion Egg-ship attempted to alter Saturn in an experiment, but were stopped by the Starfleet starships USS Hijinx and USS Crucial. (Star Trek: Hijinx)
