Samson Esau Glover is the former Head of Starfleet Security (December 2376-June 2376). He is the father of Starfleet captain Terrence S. Glover. He came from a long line of Starfleet officers, dating back to the Earth-Romulan War of the 22nd century. (Dark Territory)

One of the defining events of Samson's early life was the Tomed Incident. Coverage of the event would leave him with an enduring fascination of Romulan society and culture.
Bajoran relief mission[]
Captain Glover undertook a fact-finding mission to a Bajoran refugee center in 2348. He took Terrence along with him. During the visit, Terrence contracted Orkett's disease. Bajoran refugee Pell Ojana saved his life by donating blood samples as part of a risky medical procedure. The gesture forged a lifelong friendship.
