Quantum Fleet

Quantum Fleet was an informal, collective designation for Quantum-class starships in Starfleet's Quantum Slipstream Drive program, differentiating those vessels from the rest of the fleet. The term stemmed from disparity between the advantages of slipstream drive and the more widespread standard warp drive. Despite its late-24th century usage, it echoed early Starfleet history, as in the 23rd century, when ships such as Constitution-class vessels were labeled "starships" to distinguish them compared to other spacefaring, often equally warp-capable vessels (which thus also qualified as "starships").
