The Presidium-class was a class of super-dreadnoughts (later simple dreadnoughts) fielded by the Interstellar Concordium in the late 23rd century and the 24th century. It saw several variants and the last iteration of the class was built in response to both the 2380 Interstellar Concordium Pacification War and the Norexan-class the Romulan Guard fielded. (Star Fleet Battles, RIS Bouteina)

History

During the ISC War of Pacification, these units were often found as flagships of a tactical wing or a fleet, fighting from the "third echelon" (the innermost echelon) in an hemispherical formation, in which the "gunline", made up of frigates and destroyers, form the outer shell and the light cruisers form the middle shell. However, it was among the slowest capital ships in the galaxy. (Star Fleet Battles)

After many years of gradual disbanding, the Interstellar Concordium Pacification Army realized, by 2380, that they were not prepared for the threat the Romulans and the Hydrans posed, with the D'deridex-class and the multi-vector assault mode-capable Paladin-class respectively. In an attempt to field heavy plasma torpedoes, the Interstellar Concordium commissioned the last iteration of the hull. The lead ship of that variant was put under trials in 2386. (RIS Bouteina: "Drug Wars")
