Nacelle

A nacelle is a generally cylindrical component of a starship's warp drive, which channels the warp plasma through a series of warp coils to create a warp field.
In Starfleet ships, they are normally located on the aft section, on the port and starboard sides of the vessel. Many species combine their Bussard collector technology with their nacelles, which makes the emergency venting of warp plasma easier.
To maintain a balanced warp field, most starships have two nacelles, although more adventurous designs have included between one and four.
