The Melek'aan-class was a type of frigate fielded by the Romulan Star Empire during the 24th century. It was one of the most successful designs in the history of the Romulan Star Navy. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 5: Starships of the Romulan Star Empire)
It was specifically designed for system defence and planetary invasion and could carry up to 180 troops.
The Melek'aan consisted of a a wedge-shaped command hull that was connected to the dorsal side of the roughly teardrop-shaped main hull. The warp nacelles were connected to the hull by two short pylons to the port and starboard sides of the vessel. The ship was capable of landing on the surface of a planet and had four struts that emerged from the bottom of the vessel and a ramp to disembark troops.
