A Deltan science team comes aboard the Independence to conduct an experiment on a rare cosmological phenomenon. When something goes wrong with the mission, crewmembers who have been exposed suddenly begin to develop unusual mutant abilities.

Background information

• This episode was conceived with the idea of transforming part of the crew into mutants with super powers.
• For this episode, two banners were created: the first introduced the story of the elemental wave "Banner A", the second to reflect the moment mutant abilities became known "Banner B".
