Maiava was a Bolian crewman serving on the USS Nautilus in the early 25th Century. (Star Trek Online: Valkyries)
History[]
In 2407, almost a year after his first posting on the Nautilus, he piloted a shuttle to the planet Yamatai in the Dragon's Head Nebula in an effort to rescue Commander Antori Drel, Lieutenant Carlin Agran, Lieutenant Sam Hayashi, and Doctor Mor, who'd been stranded on the planet by a previous shuttle crash. When the rescue shuttle was brought down by polaric ion discharges, they performed an emergency beam out, which resulted in Maiava becoming separated from the others. Maiava wound up beaming down close to Carlin, and two a pair of Solarii cultists who quickly set upon him. He tried vainly to talk them down before finally opening fire. Unfortunately, he was too late and was mortally wounded by the Solarii. He died moments after Carlin arrived to save him. ("Survivors of Yamatai")
