History of the Class Range[]
After the war with the Dominion (DS9) and the subsequent Borg War (Star Trek Banting II), the Alpha and Beta Quadrants looked to be set out for a path of peace and prosperity. The Long Range Scientific Test Bed and Tactical Vessel was Starfleet's new face in effect at a new direction of peaceful exploration and new technology, yet still being able to hold their own in a battle. The first Starship of this Class Range was the USS Banting-B which was the test bed for the new Transwarp Drive.
