The L-5 Colonies were Earth colonies located at the Lagrange points 60 degrees ahead (L-4), and 60 degrees behind (L-5), Earth's moon Luna.

The six extant in the mid-21st century were created from the fragments of an asteroid that was diverted from striking Earth by a consortium of nations in 2031. (The Lost Era novel: The Sundered)

The six original colonies were:

  • Vanguard colony
  • Colony Roykirk
  • the Moss-Offenhouse colony
  • the NicholCorps facility
  • the Brynner asteroid
  • the Starling Habitat

In cooperation with Zefram Cochrane, those colonies participated in a test of a stable subspace field in 2058. However, due to an unknown factor, all six disappeared and were presumed destroyed. (The Sundered)

In the continuity of Federation Spaceflight Chronology, there was an L-4 colony named New Paris. Also, Brynner City was an L-5 colony destroyed in a Kzinti attack in 2054. (Federation Spaceflight Chronology, vol. 4)

By the 23rd century, other colonies were constructed at the Earth-Moon Lagrange points. One, L-5 Colony Two, was the home of Asimov University. (Star Trek: Avenger)

Two officers who served on USS Avenger at different times, Kate Dimick-Brown and Gretchen Benteen, were residents of L-5 Colony Two. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Nearly a Valediction")
