The Korean War was a conflict fought on Earth between the two political entities that made up the Korean peninsula between the years 1950 and 1953. The turning point resulting in an eventual stalemate was Operation Chromite, in which United States troops landed in the coastal city of Inchon. North Korean military forces did not expect the invasion with South Korean and United States troops bottled up in the southernmost tip of the peninsula.

In 2374, Mandel Morrison of the USS Lambda Paz compared the First Betreka Nebula counterstrike to the strategy behind Operation Chromite, with the Dominion having established a firm presence along the border between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. (Star Trek: Lambda Paz: "The Tides of War, Part 1")

One of the casualties of that war was the son of Limis Vircona's 20th century Earth alter-ego Veronica Loomis. Loomis was committed to the same mental institution where Benny Russell resided because of delusions her son was still alive. (Star Trek: Lambda Paz: "The Tides of War, Part 2")
