The Ninth Battlegroup was a Klingon Defence Force battlegroup that took part in the Dominion War. (Star Trek: Swiftfire)
In the early months of the war, under the command of General Gar it was one of the most successful fleets in terms of engagements against Dominion forces. Due to this it was paired with the Starfleet Seventh Fleet for a two-pronged operation to halt (or at least slow down) the Dominion advance into Federation territory.
While the Seventh engaged the Dominion at the Tyra system the Ninth was to destroy the repair yards in Sector 432. To assist in the mission the Ninth was supported by elements of the Starfleet Fifth Fleet, given that the sector was the fleet's former staging grounds.
One hundred and seventy-six warships from the Ninth attacked first using their cloaking devices to surprise the facility and its defenders. The initial attack was a success with far more Dominion and Cardassian warships destroyed then losses sustained. The battle was a success however the defeat of the Seventh forced the Ninth and the Fifth into a hasty retreat back to friendly space. ("Pressure Points")
