|John T. Carter|
Early Life and CareerEdit
John Carter served served under Captain Preston Wilcox as First Officer of the USS Potemkin (NCC-1657). Captain Wilcox was a great mentor and senior Starfleet Officer. Carter is very fond of Captain Wilcox who provided much wisdom to his young and ambitious Executive Officer. Prior to his tenure on the Potemkin, Carter served numerous positions on various dangerous ships and missions in order to gain rank quickly.
The Farragut MissionsEdit
Despite his cavalier attitude, he understands the rigors of command. To best temper his judgment, he has surrounded himself with his longtime best confidants and closest friends: Commander Tacket and Lieutenant Commander Smithfield. Jack served with Tacket for several tours of duty on other ships, and met "Mike" Smithfield during his time at Starfleet Academy.
Jack hand-picked his friends to serve on his first command, but Starfleet positioned other key officers in place despite his protests including an equally ambitious Communications Officer, a young and space-inexperienced doctor, and promoting a security officer from Captain Alvarez’ command to be Jack’s Chief of Security. He doesn’t know these officers well, and is leery of their qualifications and experience. Jack has never been a by-the-book officer, and tries to take on too many tasks by himself. He has been known to work himself to exhaustion, and isn’t very accepting of criticism or advice from others; these are traits he will need to adjust if he is going to maintain his position as Captain.
Family and Personal LifeEdit
His parents, Lynn and Gene Carter, are botanists. There are stationed on Cygnus IV. John Carter is the first member of his family to join Starfleet.
