The Jem'Hadar were a species of genetically engineered soldiers that served the Dominion.

Jem'Hadar were breed in hatcheries and took only three days to go from infant to fully grown. (DS9: "Penumbra", "The Abandoned") They were created lacking a crucial enzyme and required the drug ketracel-white to survive. The drug gave them all the nutrients they needed removing the need to eat nor did they sleep. They also possessed the ability to go invisible, which they referred to as shrouding. (DS9: "The Abandoned", "To the Death", "The Jem'Hadar")

A lack of ketracel-white saw Jem'Hadar suffer withdraw symptoms such as an inability to concentrate, feelings of pain, a lack of discipline, and losing the ability to shroud. They would get increasingly violent and eventually go on a murderous rampage. (DS9: "Hippocratic Oath")

They were also bred with the belief that the Founders were gods to be served and that their actions were for the glory of the Founders. (DS9: "To the Death")

As the Jem'Hadar's only purpose was to serve as soldiers and their fast maturity rate it was rare for them to live past the age of 15. If they lived to 20 years they were awarded the title "Honored Elder". (DS9: "To the Death", "One Little Ship")

During the Dominion War, a new breed of Jem'Hadar were created specifically to fight against the Alpha Quadrant powers. They were referred to as 'Alphas' and the older versions as 'Gammas'. (DS9: "One Little Ship")

U'lanna technology could clone Jem'Hadar, thus resulting in Jem'Hadar-manned ships like Beta-23. However, it couldn't clone Vorta. (Star Trek: The Stoneship Files: "Ancient Horrors")
