Captain Jonathan Hunt, hero of the Dominion War, wakes up from a four-year-long coma on Deep Space Nine, curious as to the fate of his starship. He awakes to find everything he knew different.

This episode was originally conceived as the second of three parts, but the first and third episodes were dropped in order to maintain the flow of the storyline, and this became the series' pilot. as such, many details are omitted or inadequately explained.
