Hadley was a Federation Starfleet officer on active duty in the 23rd century.

Hadley had no canonical given name.

During James T. Kirk's first five-year mission as commanding officer of the USS Enterprise, Hadley often filled in on alpha shift at the helm or navigations. (TOS: "Space Seed", "City on the Edge of Forever") His primary billet, however, was that of night-watch (i.e., gamma shift) science officer (Orion Press: "The Night Watch") He was also cross-trained in security. (TOS: "The Alternative Factor", "The Devil in the Dark")

By late 2267, Hadley's primary billet had apparently changed to beta-shift helmsman. (Orion Press: "Not That Green")

After the Enterprise's refit in 2273, Hadley was billeted as the second science officer, usually working beta shift. He held this position for two years. (Orion Press: Klingons!)

He rose through the ranks and, in the 2290s, commanded the USS Hercules. (Orion Press: Klingons!, Chekov's Enterprise)

Legacy[]

The USS Hadley, a Moscow-class scout, was named after him in the 24th century. (FASA RPG: Star Trek The Next Generation Officer's Manual)
