Hydran Royal Navy
The HMS Vosteage was a galactic survey cruiser (and later light carrier) active with the Hydran Kingdom in the 24th century. It was the second ship of the Grenadier-class and had a troubled history. (RIS Bouteina)
Shortly after its launch in 2372, the Vosteage was chosen by the Hydran Keepership to be the testbed of their prototype cloaking device. However, since they were violating the Treaty of Oxvind, a mutiny broke out shortly after a Klingon raid that resulted in an Hydran victory (and the loss of the IKS Nav'Don, a Vor'cha-class ship.) Its crew also had to repel a boarding party. While they were victorious, the Hydrans sustained damaged to multiple internals and they were marooned on an asteroid. The mutineers have engaged the auto-destruct sequence but it failed. (RIS Bouteina: "Vosteage")
Apparently, the ship was destroyed but the survivors who escaped the destruction of the ship were court martialled and they hid the truth about the cloaking device. It sustained damage to its warp core, impulse drive, its cloaking device and hull breaches and its antimatter supplies were quickly exhausted. For the next fifteen years, they have lived in hiding until they were daring enough to send a distress call, leading to its salvage. It was eventually repaired and refitted with a new, improved cloaking device, leading to a new sub-class of the Grenadier-class to be built, the Vosteage-class. (RIS Bouteina: "Ice Cream Parlor")
The idea of having Hydrans come into possession of cloaking devices was inspired by the story of the USS Pegasus and their continued strife against Klingons, seeing that, if the Hydrans allied themselves with the Romulan Star Empire against the Klingon Empire they would have needed cloaking devices if they were to successfully engage Klingons in the field of battle. Also, the name of the ship was an adaptation of the Vostigye in VOY: "Real Life".
