Germany is a nation-state on the European continent on Earth. Berlin is its capital city, and Hamburg, Munich (German: München), Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Cologne (German: Köln), and Emden are also cities in Germany. People or things originating from Germany are described as German.

Germany was an Axis power in World War II, seeing one of its darkest periods in history under the leadership of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. (ENT: "Storm Front", "Storm Front, Part II"; TOS: "City on the Edge of Forever"; VOY: "The Killing Game", "The Killing Game, Part II") One such dark part was the bombing of Dresden in 1945, during which Starfleet officers Daniel Radke, Anne Lansing and Antonio Fernandes stopped an alien invasion from spreading beyond Dresden. Trelane noted Enterprise geophysicist Karl Jaeger's being of German descent. (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos"). In 2279, Jaeger's niece Gretchen Benteen would be born in the Alsace-Lorraine, a region sometimes claimed by Germany, sometimes by France. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Nearly a Valediction")

Some of Daniel Radke's ancestors lived in Germany. His father was born there, near the border with Denmark. (Star Trek: Shabonee: "Dirge")

Lieutenant Commander David Glass of the 172nd Search and Rescue Squadron was half-German in descent and was raised in the Ruhr River Valley of Germany. (Star Trek: Voyager - Dark Realm)

Lieutenant Commander Clause Elberg was born in Munich, Germany. (Star Trek: Eagle)

Germany was represented in the 0L Pledge for European Law School Transparency by Fritz Darmstadt, who ultimately attended the University of Queensland. (Star Trek: False Vacuum: "Pledge of the Protester")
