The Fukui Astronomical Institute is a scientific and educational institute based on Earth. Some of the Federation's most brilliant minds work at the Fukui Institute, most notably Seven of Nine.

In early 2381, the F.A.I. discovered an unusual spatial anomaly in the Mutara sector nicknamed the "Fountain of Possibilities."

This anomaly turned out to be the most significant find in the Institute's 200-year history, as the anomaly's trans-temporal effects yielded not only the remains of the original USS Enterprise but a temporally-dislocated Klingon commander named Kruge. (Harry Potter and the Fountain of Possibilities)

Background Information[]

Just like the astronomical designation for the Guardian's World in Harry Potter and the Return of James T. Kirk, the Fukui Institute is a reference to the original incarnation of the Japanese television series Iron Chef and more specifically the show's chief commentator, Kenji Fukui.
