In 2381, Takaram made his first contact with the USS Pioneer, in which he told Captain Benjamin Kelsoe that Commander L'mar was still at large and was probably working with the So'ja Coalition. ("Unresolved Matters")
In late 2382, Takaram meet with Admiral Christopher Truman, along with Captain Kelsoe, Commander Tuff, and Commander Burt aboard Deep Space Five to discuss a possible alliance between the Federation and the Romulan Star Empire during the Coalition War. ("For Better or Worse")
At the end of 2382, Takaram represented the Romulan Star Empire in negotiations with Federation Ambassador Spock to join the Federation against the So'ja in the Coalition War, during which he quoted from William Shakespeare's Henry V. ("Dawn")
