Tanyo Sortyn was born on the Betazoid colony world of Darona. She enrolled in Starfleet Academy at the age of 17, graduating in 2369 and being assigned to the USS Musketeer as a member of the navigation department. She was promoted to lieutenant junior grade in 2371.
In 2372 she transferred to the USS Lionheart as assistant navigation officer. (Star Trek: Lionhearted: "New Blood")
The following year she was promoted to lieutenant and chief navigation officer. (Star Trek: Lionhearted: Risan Holiday)
She was killed in action on the USS Lionheart during the combined Starfleet/Klingon Defense Force assault on the Dominion's Torros III Shipyard. (Star Trek: Lionhearted: Declaration)
