The Mithras class was a type of Cardassian destroyer escort that saw service during the latter half of the 24th century. It entered service in 2365. (Cardassian Sourcebook; Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 2: Starships of the Cardassian Union)
The class was designed to combat Klingon Birds-of-Prey and was comparable in performance and role. The Mithras was faster at impulse and had better acceleration than the Bird of Prey but could not match it at warp speeds. (Cardassian Sourcebook)
An escort wing of Minthras were assigned to protect the Jem'Hadar carrier, Alpha-26. The escorts were destroyed by the 1st Destroyer Wing of the 352nd Tactical Wing as it launched an attack targeting the carrier. (The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon)
