Federation Frontiers is a Star Trek based play-by-email role-playing game played on YahooGroups that was started in the 1990s. In 2011, only one sim remains active, the U.S.S. Hyperion.

The game[]

Federation Frontiers is based about 40 years after Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in the canon universe using a variety of canon and non-canon technology and vessels. The U.S.S. Hyperion, a Prometheus II class vessel, is the flagship of Starfleet's Border Patrol Unit, which is responsible for undertaking a number of different mission tasks.

Up until January 2009, there were two sims active within Federation Frontiers, but Striker Team was disbanded and its crew sent on a convert operation for Starfleet's CinC. The current mission sees the ship and her crew going to the aid of a mythical race who's star has gone supernova with very little rest from their ordeal at the christening of the U.S.S. Pharaoh, Pharaoh class, Starfleet's latest development in battle Cruisers.

Joining Federation Frontiers[]

To join the RPG new players must fill out a "Character Application" and email it to the sim's chairman for approval. Specific crew vacancies are also available on-site. Given the combat oriented nature of the U.S.S. Hyperion there is no chief science officer position offered for that sim.
