HistoryEdit

The primary task of the Starfighter Corps is to supplement the forces of Starfleet and exist as a fast attack force in case of war. Because Starfleet suffered massive losses of Peregrine-class fighters during the Dominion War, it was decided, in the same command decision that created the Federation Marine Corps, the Starfighter Corps would be formed as a separate branch of the Federation military solely devoted to piloting smaller vessels, such as fighters. The primary vessel operated by the Corps is the Sisko-class attack fighter.
