Eduardo Mendez was a veteran Starfleet officer and captain of the USS Columbia. He was killed in 2370 after succumbing to wounds sustained during an attack on the Columbia. (The Star Eagle Adventures)

Mendez was a strict but fair captain who inspired great confidence and respect among his crew. Both Amaya Donners and Michael Owens served under his command and considered him an impudent mentor.
